Everyone has been talking about Mandalas and art therapy. So, what’s all the chatter about?
The word Mandala is derived from the Sanskrit and means “circle.” A mandala has a concentric structure that offers balancing visual elements that symbolize unity and harmony.
This 2-hour workshop is a social activity where individuals will connect with each other physically and energetically. We will communicate and listen to one another. We will use our flexibility, strength and balance to support ourselves and each other.
The workshop will slowly build so participants can become open, playful and connected with one another in a safe and comfortable way. In the group Human Mandala, Delisa will guide us through a series of interconnected yoga poses and sequences which will incorporate synchronized movements, breathing and stretches. We will stay connected and support each other. This workshop involves interactive games, partner yoga, and mini human mandalas and concludes with the group human mandala and a relaxing coloring activity to calm our minds and spark creativity.
This will be fun and playful, and it will create a feeling of connectedness and openness with one another.
Yoga props are our friends! They somehow have gotten a “bad rep,” as people think if you use them, it makes you less of a yogi or weak. That’s incorrect, rather, it is quite the opposite. Yoga props can enhance and support your physical yoga practice.
Tight shoulders, hamstrings or hips can prevent even the most seasoned student from experiencing comfort and ease while doing yoga. In efforts to reduce muscular effort and encourage proper alignment, the effective use of yoga props helps students of all levels gain awareness of the yoga postures and receive the benefits of the practice.
During this 2-hour workshop, you will learn how to confidently and effectively use yoga props while practicing. We will use blocks, blankets, bolsters, straps, and the wall. We will start this workshop with a gentle movement flow to warm up the body, and then break down a variety of postures that commonly benefit from the use of props. We will conclude with a slow flow using the props.
Sunday July 17 & August 14
Treat yourself to an hour of bliss. The first part of class will be Yin Yoga. The second part will be Yoga Nidra.
In Yin, you will passively hold postures for longer periods. This will activate your rest and
digest system and stretch the deepest layers of your connective tissue.
Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation which leads to deep relaxation.
This is the perfect class for reducing stress and anxiety and for promoting clarity, better sleep, and
self awareness.
